3 cool things:
     • In 2021, began participating in a leadership development program for Black employees — McKinsey & Co.’s Black Leadership Academy. Early- to midcareer leaders take part in a six-month program delivered through immersive digital courses, individual and group projects, and a capstone event.

     • Offers an employee stock purchase plan that provides employees with the opportunity
to buy shares of Sun Life stock at a 10% discount on an after-tax payroll deduction basis. Provides retirement planning tools, as well as a platform and mobile app operated by
Virgin Pulse, which offers financial support tools.
     • Provides flexibility in how employees manage their time. For example, the company introduced meeting-free and half-day Fridays to reduce Zoom fatigue and prioritize work-life balance. To support working parents, it partnered with the Boston Children’s Museum to offer U.S. employees the opportunity to enroll their children at no cost in virtual summer
camps.

Employees say:
     • ”It is a complicated organization, being a global organization (regulatory, tax and accounting are complicated), but that is more than made up for by the quality of people here.”

     • “This is a firm that truly lives by its valued behaviors and has gone to great lengths to put an important emphasis on both its employees and our clients during the pandemic.”
     • “I have been with the company for decades and in that time I have had more than 20 positions and not one day has been the same. The firm has allowed me to gain skills and then employ those skills while building new ones.”

ENSURING DEI: SLC employees were given access to a three-month digital learning platform to advance workplace diversity, equity and inclusion, and shared thoughts on the experience in a video in the firm’s newsletter.
